 August's Meeting

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 23 at the Tenny Street Roadhouse. As usual, the thirsty hardcore who want dinner will start arriving around 5PM, people will drift in for an hour or so, and we will start our meeting around 6PM.

Competition Results

Jim Rice

The results from last month's competition will be in the next newsletter.

August's competition is open to any BJCP style, but we want beers that have not been entered in the "OPEN" months before. We will be glad to judge them again, but they will not qualify for places in the competition or points.

News Items

Michigan State Fair

The Michigan State Fair competition results are at http://www.msfhomebrew.com/results.html Congratulations are in order for F.O.R.D. members Kurt Klimkiewicz, Scott Smith, Gabi Palmer, and Tyler Barber. I believe that Steve Close mentioned in the results, also, is or was a member of our club. Can someone confirm that?

Downriver Beer-B-Cue Invitation

Chris Frey

Bob Z has officially invited members of the F.O.R.D. Homebrew club to attend their beer-b-cue. He asks for a RSVP for food planning purposes, as well as a side dish. While Bob has indicated that we are invited guests, I am sure that a monetary donation would be well received - your call!

So please RSVP to Bob at zukoskyrobert@sbcglobal.net if you plan to attend - this is another good interclub soiree and the DRBG has some awfully familiar old friends, as well as some of the best brewers in the state.

Hope to see some of you there!

Next Month's Competition

Next month's competition styles is Baltic Porter, BJCP category 12c.

Five Years Ago in Ye Olde Brew News.

It was a slow news month in August of 2000. In July of 2000 we had an outdoor meeting at Ford Field. Here is Jim Racine's report.

Last month's meeting was held at Ford Field (future site of this year's Beer BQ). I had a great time as I'm sure many of you did too. We had a big turnout, lots of great beer, and awesome food. Thanks to everyone who contributed especially Jim Rice for making and cooking his teriaki chicken.
