Message from the President

Mike Krawczak

I would like to thank everyone who attended the June meeting and I look forward to seeing you in July.

In our July meeting I will be demonstrating the hook up and use of the Blichmann Beer Gun. For those of you that may not be familiar with this apparatus, it allows you to fill bottles with beverages from your keg without loss of carbonation using a one hand operation.

Please bring you stouts (3 bottles or each) to the meeting for our next club only competition. The winner's entry will be sent on to the September/October 2006 national club competition in Minnesota.

The club shirts have been ordered and hopefully will be available for purchase at the August club meeting.

I have attended the inaugural meeting of the Michigan Home Brewers Guild which was organized by Charles Psenka, principal of The Sleeping Bear Organization (www.sleepingbear.org). A mission statement for the guild is being developed and I will update you with information as it is available. You can check out the latest from Charles at

http://www.mihomebrew.com/

The club will be having a picnic in the month of August or September; it will most likely be held on a Saturday and is a family event. Stay tuned for updates as they become available.

A final note:

The F.O.R.D. Brew club members do a good job producing great beers and supporting members in their brewing adventures and I feel that we can extend our reach to others that are less fortunate. I have had the privilege to volunteer at Penrickton Center for Blind Children which is a unique, private non-profit agency, providing five-day residential, day care, and consultation/evaluation services to blind, multi-disabled children ages one through twelve. Each program is individually designed to promote independence in all aspects of daily living. (http://www.penrickton.com)

Penrickton does not charge parents for their services and receives no government funding. The facility runs on the private donations they receive from the community. There are always items that are needed to run day to day operations and I would like club members to bring an item to the meeting which will be delivered to Penrickton. Currently the items that are in demand include:

Thank You

Mike
